Vincent Selby, Biography

British Landscape Artist
Original oil paintings

(b.1919 - 2004) Cheshire, England

Vincent Selby was born in Stockport, Cheshire in 1919. His interest in the arts developed at an early age, leading him to study art at Stockport College, where he was tutored by prominent artists of the 1930s.

A World War II veteran, Vincent went on to serve in the Royal Artillery from 1939 to 1946. On his return to civilian life, he was employed as Display Controller for the display and interior design of a leading furniture house.

In 1973, he became a full-time artist, producing paintings largely influenced by the work of the 19th century English school landscape painters.

Vincent Selby's work is widely exhibited and sold in galleries throughout the United Kingdom and the United States of America with great success.

He is an established artist with leading galleries throughout the world. His commissions from publishers have been used and reproduced for prints, cards and ceramics. As Vincent passed away in 2004, there is a fixed volume of his work in circulation, making each of his paintings a valuable asset to any collection.
